ken's house
an alternative emergency shelter dedicated to the prevention of domestic violence through providing a safe place to cool down away from a potentially violent situation. Court intervention, especially through issuance of "Protective Orders" all too often does nothing but increase the anger and thus the potential for violence. It is an undeniable fact that Protective Orders can be order to gain undue advantage in divorce and custody proceedings, and such misuse in the absence of actual credible threat tends to severely dilute the protection available through these paper shields to those who really need protection..

Services are available to those who may benefit from a respite from a tumultuous relationship before things deteriorate to the point of intervention by the authorities. Services are also available to those evicted from their homes through action of a domestic violence "Protective Order" in the absence of any related criminal charges.

For placement, counsel and support call 672-5750 between the hours of 7am and 10pm. Click here to download a brochure.

Emergency housing is available to those without concurrent criminal charges who are not intoxicated. Sliding scale payment or work service is required. Meals are client's responsibility.
